Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

Breakfast will be served very early at the lodge and head to the offices to meet other guests for a briefing session as a group. You will then be led into the thick forest to search for the habituated Gorilla group allocated to you. The tracking exercise normally takes anything from 30 minutes to half a day and once you meet the Gorillas, you will have a one hour encounter with them. Return to meet your guide and drive to the Hotel for lunch and relaxation at the lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park

After your breakfast at the lodge, you will drive back to Kigali and have a city tour visiting the Kings palace, the Genocide memorial and the Butare museums before having your lunch break. You will then drive towards Nyungwe Forest National Park arriving in the evening hours. Check in at the lodge and have your dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and Canopy walk

You will gather at the park offices after breakfast for briefing with other visitors on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. This exercise is actually similar to the Gorilla trekking experience but the Chimps are easier to find than the Gorillas. After some minutes or hours in the forest, you will meet the chimpanzees and be allowed to spend one full hour with them. You will also have a chance to watch other primate species like the L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed Momkeys and Olive Baboons among others. After this blissful experience tracking with the Chimpanzees, you will break off a little for lunch and launch the canopy walk that will take you about 2 hours. the Canopy is another opportunity to have a clear view of Rwanda’s beauty on a suspended path on the treetops. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
